On Wednesday 4 November, during the EICMA week in Milan, Energica officially opened a new chapter. Two years after the Italian maker of electric motorcycles went into liquidation, it presented its comeback under the name Energica Back on the Road, in an old foundry where material once got a new life. In the Netherlands and Belgium that comeback runs through Electric Motorcycles B.V. from Nijmegen, which has an agreement with the new Energica organisation and is its importer for both countries.
What the new Energica looks like
Energica has been taken over by Energica Pte. Ltd., a company from Singapore backed by international private investors. The brand, the intellectual property, the patents and the existing type approvals have all been kept. Design, engineering and development stay in Italy, with Giampiero Testoni, involved from the very start, as CTO and Paolo Imeni as designer. Production moves to Asia, and Energica expects that to bring prices down by about 20 percent compared with the old level.
The Experia goes back into production first, with the first motorcycles expected in early 2027. The Ego, the Eva Ribelle and the EsseEsse9 follow step by step. A new battery has been announced for the phase after that. Energica is also working on charging at Tesla Superchargers, and on Energica Owners' Lounge, a digital platform around the motorcycle and its owner.
A new company, a familiar team
Electric Motorcycles B.V. is a new company, founded on 23 July 2026 to give Energica a fresh start in the Benelux. Isatis Group is a shareholder in this new company and came on board after the liquidation, so it was not part of the company that came before. The years before belong to Marchel Bulthuis and his partners. They have been riding, demonstrating and servicing electric motorcycles since 2011, and when the factory fell away they kept as many Energica riders on the road as they could, with their own solutions.
“For more than two years we did what we could, without a factory behind us. That only worked thanks to your patience and trust. We are not there yet, but we are back.”
Marchel Bulthuis, operational manager, Electric Motorcycles B.V.
What riders can do again
Maintenance, diagnosis and technical support are possible again, at the importer and at four service locations: BikeXperience in Amsterdam, Current Motors in Elst, Electric Addict in Eenrum and Motor van de Toekomst in Wijster. In Belgium the service network is being built, and until then Belgian owners go straight to the importer. New websites, energicamotor.nl and energicamotor.be, cover the models, manuals and service.
Parts deliveries are coming back step by step, and Energica has announced ReCharge, a programme for existing owners. Electric Motorcycles is also preparing a webshop of its own, with accessories from its own EMN Parts label.
What comes next
In mid-November the team visits the new production facility in Bangalore, India. A celebration of Energica's return in the Netherlands and Belgium is being prepared as well.
Welcome to the family
Electric Motorcycles is the newest company in the Isatis family. Like every company in the group it keeps its own name, its own team and its own way of working. Welcome, Marchel and team. Experience(d) Electric.
